Monday blues? Here’s a little gem for you – a free early-phase (which means it’s still under development) multi-player “Stealth/Action-Game” : Of Guards and Thieves.
Did we mention it’s free? It also doesn’t require a heavy configuration and it’s very addictive!
It’s currently being developed by Subvert Games and they’ve opened up the Beta to everyone so you can play it today… You can also pay for it to support the developers and get access to VIP Content (more characters and game modes).
So, what is it? Well, it’s a multi-player 3rd person shooter that mixes fast paced actions with stealth depending on who you’re playing as. The game features the following modes :
- Guards vs Thieves : Thieves have to steal an object on the map by using discretion (hiding in the shadows), a knife that kills with one blow (they have infrared vision) and Guards must prevent that from happening by using… well, Guns.
- Survivors vs Zombies : Zombies have to eat a “Big Brain” hidden on the map, Survivors must prevent that from happening by using… you guessed it, Guns.
There’s a couple of variances from those, like defusing bombs, but the structure remains the same. Check out the gameplay video below to see what it looks like.
It’s simple, matches usually last 5 minutes max, and it’s incredibly fun. One of the strongest sides is how you develop tactics with your team without the need to chat – just by moving to certain places or performing specific actions. There’s also a RPG component though it’s unclear yet what are the benefits from it… We’ve leveled up our character to L10 but there was no actual impact on gameplay.
The only down-side so far is the limited amount of maps, but that’s completely normal considering they’re still developing the game.
We’re excited about the final version and decided to support this little indie gem by buying the Civilian Pack.
Still not convinced? Download the game by clicking on the survivor character!
Let’s see… We said : fun. Multi-player. Fast and… Free. Do you have anything better to do this week?
